Rising juniors, get a jump start on the ACT with plenty of time to prepare

In just a few months, students will be taking their very first ACT test.  For first-time test takers, the process can be intimidating and overwhelming. For others, anxiety is already setting in.

The typical worries include:

I am horrible at timed tests!

Do I have what it takes to get a good score?

I don't want to settle on where I go to college.

These are valid concerns.

The path to college is getting harder and the stakes are rising each year. Top universities require top scores; state schools seem to raise the minimum standards on the ACT each semester.

Every week, we hear from parents who wonder:

When do we start?

What does it take to do well on the ACT?

How to we get ahead?

The secret to getting ahead on the ACT?

The answer will surprise you:

 It's making the time to
get ahead

IT's NOt one-And-Done MASTERY

Most students, even the high-achievers, take the ACT multiple times to get their desired score for college admission and scholarships. By starting before their junior year, students have months and multiple ACT test dates to get their desired scores.

DON't WAIT UNTIL
It's Too LATE

Students who procrastinated on taking the ACT always tell us: “I wish I hadn’t wait so long!” “I wish I had more time to do the work to get ahead.” By not rushing their test taking, students they can be confident rather than confused about what it takes to make it on the ACT.

START SMART THIS SUMMER

For every student who fails by waiting too long, there are the students who realize that time is their friend, not their foe, and give themselves time to succeed. The 10 weeks of summer break is the ideal time to focus without the distractions of sports, regular classes, extra-curricular activities.

“I wish I hadn’t waited so long!”
“I wish I had more time to do the work to get ahead.”

Actual quotes from students who started too late.
